Fluoride Treatment Frederick MD

Fluoride therapy is extremely important when trying to maintain good oral health. Fluoride is a natural mineral found in water and most foods. Since being introduced to the public water system over 50 years ago, the frequency of cavities has dramatically dropped.  In recent studies, it was found that topical fluoride–from toothpastes, mouth rinses and in-practice treatments–is just as important in the fight against tooth decay as it is in strengthening and developing teeth.

Your fluoride treatment options will vary according to your individual dental needs. We offer in-office treatments, fluoride rinses, and fluoride toothpaste to help strengthen your teeth and prevent tooth decay or acid attacks.

For patients who are concerned about using fluoride, we offer two alternatives: MI Paste and Xylitol. MI Paste contains RECALDENT, a milk-derived ingredient that helps improve saliva flow. MI Paste is an effective alternative to fluoride for patients who are pregnant, under six years old, or who are undergoing orthodontic treatment. Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar substitute that also helps increase saliva, resulting in less bacteria and acid on your teeth. If you would like to learn more about how fluoride, MI Paste, or Xylitol can improve your dental health, please contact Dr. Politmi Mantzouranis, DDS’ office today.
